What was your recovery like after having a c-section?

Agree with others. I had zero pain during recovery. Never filled my prescriptions for pain relief. Really didn't have pain getting up from laying down. I think the key is walking when the nurses tell you. I have had 2 c-sections. Both were planned.

Also agree with others, there are other things FAR more painful.

OP, if it's planned it shoud be MUCH easier than if not, as PP said. I was in labor for over a day (!), with unplanned (obviously) CS and per doctor: lifted nothing heavier than the baby for (as long as your doctor says), did minimal stairs (once or twice per day, max), didn't drive for four weeks, eat and sleep well (mom needs TLC to recover properly), take your meds before you need them, and avoid ANY stressors (non-helpful, demanding IL's, for example).

Not to scare you, but the stitches CAN become undone if you overdo it. Don't become alarmed, just be careful. I know someone who had their most bitchy family member (presumably!) answer the phone and ward visitors off except the old people. Go figure. Everyone handles it differently, I suppose

DH was able to use some vacation time and help me out for a week, which worked the best for us. Others have family waitinG on them hand and foot (they have absolutely no idea how lucky they are, trust me). Great if they are helpful, like I said. We had some positive helpful friends and neighbors, who were a blessing.

You find out a LOT about people - I guess during weddings, funerals and having a baby GL.

At first it is a bit painful, but Vicodin is a wonderful thing. The worst part is looking down and having your midsection smile back at you for the rest of your life.

Another poster who thought recovery was easy. In fact, I walked the dog 3 days after I got home - a no no, but I needed the fresh air. The only discomfort I had was initially getting in and of bed and even then, it wasn't terrible.

On a scale of 1-10, the pain post op (1-2 days after) was a 5 and that's pushing it. The days thereafter, the pain was maybe 2-3. I did take meds though as prescribed.
