That wouldn't explain the drop b/c the drop is comparing the third grade scores in the 2009-10 school year with the third grade scores in the 2010-11 school year. Neither group includes the kids who were sent to AAP.

Not that my son will start at Navy until 2013, but now I have to go digging. Of course part of the reason we purchased in this area was due to Navy Elementary. One thing I did notice when checking elementary schools in the area is that Navy has no G/T program (at least a year ago I didn't see one) nor did they have full day Kindergarten although the other 3 schools in the area did. I think the kindergarten thing has changed this year but I had no idea about the scores.
Off to do my research now. |
| PP, did you do any research? I'm considering buying a house at Navy elementary. |
Dude, this is a 2yr old thread -- any data that PP had is outdated. BTW, Navy will now be an AAP center. |
| Navy teachers are much better than Hunters Woods teachers |
How does navy compare to floris or oak hill? |
Why do you think so? |
| Oak Hill has an amazing principal and I've heard great things about the school. |
| Didn't the SOL tests get harder last year? I think being an AAP center, the scores will only go up if that's your worry. |
|
I am thinking about buying house in Navy area. I would appreciate any positive/negative feedback.
Thanks. |
| I thought Crossfield also went to Franklin and then Oakton. Any others? We're looking in the same area too. |
Navy --> Franklin --> Oakton Waples Mill --> Franklin--> Oakton Crossfield--> Rachel Carson--> Oakton |
| So Crossfield is the only Oakton school that goes to Rachel Carson? That doesn't make a lot of sense. |

Has any of the current families seen Navy becoming better school after turning into an AAP center?
Has the level of instructions or teachers changed after AAP? |
| Navy, GBW, Oak Hill, Lees Corner are all great schools. |
