Schaffel and Sanders - Aggressive Intervention in TTC?

Anonymous
OP here, and thankful to all for their advice. I will add that I have read TCOYF cover to cover, and have been seeing Lisa Eaves of Heal from Within acupuncture for the past three months (I also have migraines, and have been going as much for anxiety reduction/headache care as I have to get help evening out my cycles; although it's very relaxing, but hasn't made much of a dent in my short-ish luteal phase).

I am currently in the TWW, so I'll know more in a few days about whether this cycle has "taken" or not. I do appreciate the advice from the other S&S client, though, who echoes my feeling that they cater to a highly motivated clientele who may not be inclined to wait around much. My concern was that everyone has raved about them, but I found Dr. Schaffel to be a little cold and not terribly reassuring. I was also thinking that 4 cycles (this being the 4th, so really only 3) was too soon to be talking infertility, and when I tried to point out I'd only had one really short LP (9 days, with the others 11 and 12), she said "well, it's not like the others were great either." It just seemed like she was saying there was no question that there definitely something wrong with me, which was tough to take (I'm only 34, btw), and that I needed to get started down the inevitable road of tests, procedures (HSG?) medications, and so on.

Anyway, I appreciate the insight from everyone, and we'll see how the next couple of months go. DH is getting his SA next month, and I may wait to do the Clomid Challenge test until August, since he'll be out of town around the time we'd be trying.

Thanks again, all.

I would give the over-the-counter ovulation predictor kits a try too. We were TTC for close to 1yr (while charting etc) and were about to start the fertility treatments when we tried the opk's on the rec of our dr as a last attempt before doing the treatments. Sure enough, I got pregnanct that 1st time with the opk & have a wonderful child.

OP - I'm the PP who is a patient of S&S. Sounds like your personality may be a better fit with Dr. Sanders who has a more relaxed style. Since I am already a bit of a "worrier" type Dr. Sanders had the right touch with me (she took me down a notch).

Hopefully you won't need to see either of them about TTC but if you are pregnant in a few months and making your 1st appt. you may want to keep this in mind. You will end up seeing both of them thru the pregnancy and they are both very good, but just something to keep in mind.
