DNA Testing to learn about ancestors

Dumb question, but I have no living relatives from my father's side. So if my daughter did a test of just me, it wouldn't find out anything about my father's side... right? (In otherwords, the maternal tests only find out about the one side of the maternal heritage)

If you mean the mitochondrial tests, they only test maternal lines. So, your mother's mother's mother, etc. There will be no results from any male ancestor.

My father is deceased and I have no brothers- but I have a male cousin, whose mother is the sister of my dad. if he did the test, and followed his mother''s side, I could get the info about my dad?
