I highly recommend Sacred Heart (at 16th and Park in Columbia Heights), especially when Fr. Paul is preaching. It's a vibrant, diverse community. Their 10 am English mass has great music. The parish is run by Capuchin Franciscans.
You could also try St. Aloysius near Union Station. They have a very strong social justice orientation, run by Jesuits. Good luck -- I hope you find a good fit. |
We go to St. Ann's in Arlington, which I'd describe as fairly middle of the road. The 11am Mass is a folk Mass, 9:30 has a choir. It has a school, which I think makes for a more friendly vibe.
I agree with PPs, though, that in Arlington your two best choices are OLQP and St. Charles. I especially think you'd like Our Lady. It was a bit too liberal for me, but sounds like it's just what you are looking for. I can't speak to the DC churches, but have heard good things about Holy Trinity and St. Matthews young adult Mass on Sunday evenings. |
