It is always a trade between customer service and the best rate. Which is more important to you is an individual decision.

Yes you do and they are VERY selective when it's comes to loaning money. Be sure to have an excellent credit rating and low debt, or don't even bother applying (they just turned my sister down for a credit card and she has a credit rating of 750 because they said she had too much cash going out for how much she brings in).


BTW, anyone can joing the Pentagon FCU. You don't have to be military or even connected to the Pentagon as a civilian. There's a way to join by simply joining a "we support the troops" charity. Check the eligibility criteria.

We financed with Pen Fed a couple years ago and it was a pleasant experience, as was their servicing of our loan. I've been eyeing their 5/5, but am not as certain I won't want to stay in my house longer.
