Was I an asshole, or was the screamer over the top?

There are so many inconsiderate drivers out there who think they are the most important thing in the universe, so each incident of being inconvenienced taps into a wellspring of accumulated irritation. At the same time, nobody has any patience anymore. A wait of 15-30 seconds is not going to change anyone's life, and next time it could be them.

Agree - I'm sure you weren't trying to be an asshole OP and we should all have more patience, but let's admit there are so many people who act like the world revolves around them that it's sometimes hard to remember not everyone is like that!

I agree with these posters.

I think OP was the asshole. You don't stop and block 3 cars in a single lane. That is a serious dick move. They don't know if you are going to be 15 seconds (doubtful) or 25 minutes - they are just sitting there stunned as you park your car in traffic. Maybe they felt guilty for yelling if you were as quick as you said, but no harm in them honking and yelling until you did. Maybe there were on the way to pick up their kid or their wife? Who knows? You sure do not.

I would never yell at a woman like that, I would get out and help her. And if it was a man, I would probably just stew in my car.

Dont know the specifics of your story, but a 20-something screamed REALLY loudly at my 70-year old mother and IRTC when they thought we might take their parking space. Made me glad to have moved out of the area.

OP - it's called life! You do what you have to do. Nobody was inconvenienced more than minute. You blocked traffic and was screamed at. Not a big deal.

And it will happen again - hopefully you won't feel the need to post about it
