I'm the 2003 Civic hybrid poster responding to the "why not Prius" question - at the time I bought mine I needed a car and in reading reviews, I wanted the Prius. Problem was, the next model Prius (which was hyped at the time as "new and improved") wasn't due to be out until later that fall. Even the then-current-model-year Prius had a wait list a mile long, whereas I was able to get delivery on my Civic right away. That was my major decision point - mere availability! Plus, I like that with the obvious exception of the motor, the rest of the body is a typical Civic so I don't have to worry about parts (probably not really a concern for the Prius anymore, but I was worried back in '03 when the cars themselves were so hard to find.)
I'll admit the Civic isn't as eye-catching as the Prius, but frankly once the redesigned Prius came out, I thought it looked a little weird. My Civic may look boring, but it works - and if the public favors the Prius, maybe I can score a deal on my next Civic! |

Is there really a wait list for the Prius?
Are people paying sticker price for it? Wow. |
| OP here, i never dreamed my little civic question would turn into this! |
