TV shows for a 7 yr old boy

If you have NetFlix you can get the 1967 SpiderMan cartoon series. My kids love it.
Scooby Doo is also popular. We kept some Magic School Buse episodes on TiVo but I don't think its on anymore.

OK, I'm going to be the stick in the mud here...

Do you people really let your 7 year olds watch this much TV? I have a 7 year old boy and neither of us has ever heard of most of these shows. He loves to watch sports on TV but we limit that to one game a week ... maybe two (one Sat/ one Sun) during football season. He sometimes catches ten or 15 minutes of the news with us at night if it happens to be on (mostly the weather) but other than that, he doesn't watch TV.

He did watch things like Super Y and Word Girl but seemed to outgrow those in the last year. Thankfully, they have not been replaced.

Not sure what "this much" refers to, but our 7 year old watches Mythbusters, How It's Made, CyberChase, Fetch, and Design Squad. Occassionally I'll add in a specific NOVA recording, or perhaps a biography. All of these are on DVR so he selects an episode to watch, roughly every other day. (He watches more TV now in the summer than during the school year -- we have no TV during the school week.)

Certainly not all at once. He watches for 1/2 hour in morning and 1/2 hour in the evening during the week and gets an extra 1/2 hour each day on the weekend. We have Tivo, so he doesn't have to "watch this much TV" - he just has varied tastes and likes to watch say 1/2 an episode of Mythbusters, a little Expedition Impossible, some Phineas and Ferb. He watches NO sports (hate the commercials) and NO news (news is by far more "damaging" than PBS and Discovery channel shows - even in the background imho). I keep my eye out for new shows that I think are relatively wholesome that he'll learn something from - usually Discovery Channel shows, but sometimes other stuff. I, for one, don't view TV as evil. I, in fact, really really like TV and think that some shows do a great job of storytelling, teaching, and information dissemination.

Also, perhaps if you had "heard" of these shows, and actually looked at them and gave them a chance before unilaterally sniffing at them, you'd realize that there is quite a bit of programming out there that is age-appropriate, entertaining, and edifying.

OMG-you don't owe anyone an explanation-most of us do the same thing and "get it" the PP is self-righteous and obviously insecure
