It's because we're finally "found outselves" and know that we don't have to prove or have the approval of everyone. If we can look at ourelves in the mirror everyday and have self-respect for that image, then we are well ahead of the game. We've lived long enough to know and accept what is important and real and what we want in our lives. We also understand that you really can't have everything and we know how to be grateful for what we have and be grateful for our friends and family, no matter how crazy they may be,or how crazy we may be. I think this is what happiness boils down to an acceptance of self and others, doing our best, and this can bring us peace and content'tment.

Very nicely put, PP.

I agree, and nicely put PP. Appreciate things more is definitely an advantage of being older.

Agree. I'm 27 and I read this forum all the time.

It is like Special Needs...except we made choices (they weren't forced on us), and not all of them smart. Probably good for younger folks to tune in; wish I could have posted here before I made certain career moves or got married. Might have thought it through more.

Some on the other pages who get insulting are probably still very young and immature. I can be bold, can fight when I need to, can insult if there is a good reason, etc. But it usually is not. I see someone post a problem bothering them & getting wisecracks that are totally out of place.
