Relocating to Boston

You should consider getting an agent to help you. It's common there for agents to find rentals. The students tend to stay in Allston/Brighton so it won't be an issue. You'll find lots of walkable parks, it's super close to the T which can get you to the Common, the museums, etc. And schools are amazing.

I am jealous.

I'm jealous too. I wish I could move back to Boston.

Op, I can't wait to leave the D.C area and wish you the best. I'd sell my soul to move away from here! And your rental budget is something not to take for granted, I wish our budget was close to that.

Lived in Boston for over 7 years and would agree with the recommendations above (Brookline, Arlington, Cambridge).

Honestly...you couldn't pay me enough to move back there, but clearly some people love the place (Boston is one of those cities where you either love it or hate it).

Good luck on your move.

We visited in the late spring, so it was perfect then. I can imagine the winter is NOT as nice. If not for weather concerns, though, it really is a great city.

Thanks for the tips, everyone. The weather is pretty much the only negative I see for this move. DC has been my home for a long time, but we have an opportunity too good to pass up. Being near the ocean and mountains also is appealing!
