If unemployment is still running at 8-10%, folks in the middle will start thinking "May as well give the GOP a chance."
Of course, the GOP may alienate the "Get government out of my Medicare" crowd that got them victory in 2010 (back when they opposed Obamacare to save Medicare). And Bachmann is prone to gaffes, not as bad as "Revere warned the British" Palin though. |
Ok, I get why hard core conservatives would vote for her, but why would a white woman (who is not also a conservative)? Are you suggesting that she will get the white female vote just because she is a white female. That line of reasoning worked out really well for Palin and Hilary - not! |
I'm sorry, I can't get past the "Isn't it interesting that the swine flu epidemics happened under democratic presidents?"* bit. She failed her history and science, all in one sentence. And, it sounds like she thinks there is some swine flu conspiracy. WTF?
*That's not an exact quote, feel free to google for the precise wording. |
She seems to have read more than Palin (wouldn't take much). However, she doesn't seem to have understood what she read. |
Oh wow, hadn't heard that one! |
She did give a speech in Concord NH about how it was where the revolutionary war began. |
She also told the people of Waterloo, Ohio, that she was just like John Wayne, who was born in Waterloo...except she got the wrong John Wayne. John Wayne Gacy is the one who was born in Waterloo. Oops. Unless of course she didn't get it wrong and meant it... ![]() |
I can't figure out if she is just plain stupid or if her staff is...either way, she will never get my vote. |
and she's pretty sure John Quincy Adams was a founding father - and her supporters are now trying to change Wikipedia because of it!
http://www.addictinginfo.org/2011/06/28/michelle-bachmann-supporters-alter-wikipedia-to-make-john-quincy-adams-a-founding-father/ Other PPs have noted, she has made more false statements than any other GOP contender. I think she will appeal to the far right, but will offend the middle/moderate. If she is the nominee, I think Obama will have an easy win. |
There are many reasons to like her if you're a conservative, sure. If you're a liberal, or moderate, white woman, what reasons are there to like her other than gender and race? Are you suggesting a lot of conservative white women woudl have voted for Clinton had she gotten the nomination? Of course not. Try not to be so shallow. |
You have just described my first grader. She shouldn't be president either (not yet, at least). |
And you got the wrong state - it was Iowa, not Ohio. Oops. In her defense, John Wayne was from Iowa, and his parents did live in Waterloo. This is not exactly a hanging offense. It doesn't even rise to the level of gaffe. At least she got the right state (yes, PP, I'm looking at you.) |
I'd say accidentally referencing John Wayne Gacy counts as a gaffe. (NP here, who knows where Waterloo IA is. And that I don't want to vote for a serial killer.) |
Did she ever say Gacy? Someone used the fact that Gacy had lived there to say she was mixing him up with the Duke, but it is much easier to assume she mixed up his Winterson, IA birthplace -- that's at least as easy as confusing Concord, MA with Concord, NH. She has enough vulnerabilities not to waste time on cheap shots! |
I so hope she wins the nomination. The SNL skits will write themselves again! |
