eh, whatev. We're all shallow about something. It just sucks that what you are shallow about is super expensive ![]() If you were considering PG County, what about parts of Montgomery or Howard County? Your commute would be better than it was from Centerville. |
Sorry to confuse w/the PG County business, that is way too far (we work in NoVa). I was just using it as an example of somewhere I wouldnt live b/c of the connotation, although I know that there are some parts of PG County that are very nice.
Sadly I am shallow about location of house, and DH is shallow about looks of the house. I will live in an old rambler w/peeling paint and a kitchen that hasn't seen an upgrade since the 70s if it means I am near stuff. DH will not. Clearly that causes some problems with the whole househunting business. We will find a gem somewhere that we agree on, I just know it. And until then, I am taking advantage of all that Centreville has to offer...such as plentiful Korean BBQ and Lifetime Fitness. |
What's your price point, OP? |
My point aboot Centreville was that it's easier to walk along Maple in Vienna than it is 29/28/50 in the Centre-tilly area. It's good that you're able to enjoy some amenities.
OP, if you work in Dulles-land, and can get jobs easily enough in that corridor, why not downtown Leesburg? $600k will get you an 80s vintage house right outside of downtown (which is near stuff) that is huge and in great shape, and in a good school district (they're building a new ES in Leesburg and will hopefully split up the at-risk kids more or less evenly between the schools). Or, it will get you a house built in 18something that is smack in the middle of downtown and has been taken care of (as in, central air put in, updated electric, etc.) The knocks: you're not near Kennedy Center/Smithsonian type stuff (which you're not already), and your commute options become limited to Dulles-land and Fair Lakes/Tysons if you can swing a 7-3 schedule (this may be a problem depending on your field). That, and you might not like being so far from DC. Replace that with downtown Herndon if you want, that would make Tysons or Fair Lakes more realistic. |
