Infants, Toddlers, & Preschoolers
I have actually been surprised how DD has been able to deal with food chunks I give her that might be a little too big. She just spits them out after gumming at them for a awhile (of course, I don't know for sure that it is too big until she spits it out). I felt a little more comfortable experimenting with little larger chunks after reading about baby-led weaning. We haven't really done it but one of the things they talk about is that babies often know when a chunk of food is too big (which by NO means means that a baby shouldn't be closely monitored - please don't flame me ). She is 10 months and has two bottom teeth. Today, she was eating blueberries whole and doing a great job with them.

All of the above. Mine is 11 mos and only has two little teeth on the bottom but she gums everything up. She can house a pile of cut blueberries in no time flat.
Totally second frozen veggies, esp the mixes--I boil them until really soft in big batches and then give her some at dinner every night. Also highly recommend chicken in the can--you can get organic canned chicken at WF and it breaks up into nice little pieces and is so easy. My kid loves it. |
