Anita Nair at Shady Grove?

I found her to be a little bit of a Debbie Downer. She also seemed to be on auto-pilot.

Be careful. I agree with another poster - she does not read charts and missed something major with my case.
If I had it to do over, wouldn't use her again.

I am a difficult case and she gave me the donor egg speech pretty quickly. Also, after two failed cycles, her only recommendation was to try the same protocol again without additional testing or changing things up. I've since gone to CFA (which has its own issues) and moved on to Cornell. We still haven't found success yet but at least we have a doctor now that will work on our specific issues and tailor our treatments. Our most recent cycle had a really good response (despite the BFN) and we are trying again in the new year and hoping this is our year.

Good luck to each of you in the new year!

She did a lot of my procedures and I liked her.

+1.

Plus she does not like it when you ask questions. "You have to trust me" is what she told me, then she let me go forward with a lead follicle, which I discovered when another doctor reviewed my charts. She will not be your partner in this, she will play the odds and do the prescribed protocols without regard to how you are responding.

She also recommended donor egg to a friend whose issue was male factor--she's just not conscientious or competent. I would avoid her.

I really liked Dr. Nair. I think she's very up on the latest research, and even talked to me about trying a therapy that had only anecdotal success -- and she was very clear in laying out the pros and cons of that to me. She treated me compassionately without talking down to me.

I never saw Nair but wanted to put in another vote of confidence and happiness with Widra. I thought his demeanor and bedside manner were great - very professional, thoughtful, patient, and science-based. And when we had my confirmatory ultrasound and saw the heartbeat, I could swear he got choked up and I saw him wiping tears away. He really seemed genuinely happy and it felt like he was a true partner, very invested in our success.

Love Widra. I was a tough case and he helped comcieve three kids. Agree with PP about his demeanor and approach. Felt that he treated me as a partner in the process.

I had two exchanges with Nair and found her to be a condescending and poorly informed. Not a fan.

Is she even back from maternity leave yet? She's been out since October

She's back. And I checked and was very glad she was not doing my retrieval or transfer.

She did my retrieval in June and I was impressed. I had been excited when she was my dr. because a friend had done IUI with her and had a very positive experience. Not only did she do a great job (got more mature eggs than we thought we'd be able to get based on my monitoring), but I had no pain after -- very gentle. I didn't have a problem with her bedside manner/style that previous posters wrote of, but perhaps my case was more straightforward. Hard to compare apples to apples.

I didn't love her, but didn't have any serious concerns with her. I felt like she listened to my wishes and didn't bully me, but was straight with me (she wanted me to move to medication faster than I was ready, same with IVF, but wasn't pushy about it). I was ultimately successful with her. And my MFM knows her and has a fond opinion of her from when she was in her fellowship or med school, FWIW.

I would say, though, that you definitely have to be your own advocate in this process. SGF definitely felt like a factory to me, so I felt like I needed to pay attention, read up, and advocate for myself. Honestly, I was more fond of the nurses than the doctors.

Most of the posts are old but glad to hear I'm not the only one put off my her bedside manner. I can deal with the patronizing, but her lack of focus on my specific situation shocks me. She issued yet again the same medicated protocol that failed previously. And by fail, I mean the medication and dosage do not produce more than the single egg as I would in a natural cycle. I literally had to email through the nurse for three days before it was changed.

Widra was extremely kind to me during a miscarriage. I'm giving up on Nair and asking to switch.

I started with Nair at SG and had a very bad experience. My first monitoring appointment, she said "You have hardly responded" and I said "I haven't started my medication, this is my day 3 monitoring." She hadn't read my chart. Then she let me go forward with a lead follicle. When we first met, she told me to stay off of google, not as a joke, she was serious. When I asked questions she would say "you have to trust me". She doesn't like to be questioned, yet doesn't know what she's doing. When I was shopping around to change, the doctor at GW told me about the lead follicle after looking at my records. During my consult with Dr. Widra, he did not deny it but didn't dis his colleague. He did, however, discuss that we needed protocol that would try to suppress the lead follicle. . . so he was not denying it and saw it as significant.

Overall, I would stay away from her.

I switched from Nair to Widra after one cycle with Nair, no regrets.

I was wondering if anyone has had Dr. Nair agree to do CHS testing on frozen blasts? She seemed very negative on this idea but I think it's really important to narrow down my frozen embryos. thanks
