35 weeks and feeling unprepared for child birth...

OP here. Thank you very much for your suggestions!

I just had what I thought would be my last ultrasound, but the baby's weight is in the 22nd percentile, which is about 11% lower than our last visit (weight has dropped the past three visits). The perinatologist suggested a non-stress test, which turned out great. Now I have to have a non-stress test every week until I give birth, which is fine. I will do whatever is necessary to deliver a healthy baby!

The lady climbing in the bed naked with the mother while she was in labor? The husband and friend sucking on the laboring mothers breasts??!? Why am I the only one who ever remembers that this stuff is in the book. Are we giving birth or having orgies?

There are much better options than that over sexualized dirty book.

Well, I showed restraint by not suggesting her earlier book, "Spiritual Midwifery." Give me some credit! Is that perhaps the book you're thinking of? I don't remember any orgies in her Guide to Childbirth, but perhaps my birth-induced high is affecting me. (Ha, ha.)

Nope, it's definitely the Guide to Childbirth because that's the only book of her's I've read. I wouldn't read a book called Spiritual Midwifery for fear of what it might contain.

Definitely hire a doula and see if you can take a private birthing class, if possible. I know that Ursula Sabia Sukunik will do them, if she's available. She's amazing! When in labor try squatting with your contractions. It helps a lot and helps bring the baby down. Def. don't lay down and try to stay home as long as you possibly can. I've had two natural births and that's what I did. The walking helped me, too. Good luck! Everyone is right, it hurts, but the pain will end and at the end you have the BEST thing in the world! You will forget about the labor
