Love the name. It is my aunt's name. Originally her name was spelled "Nancy" but she changed the spelling when she was a teen to "Nancie" |
cute! |
As a mid-40's Nancy -- who hardly ever hears my name among young kids anymore -- I am loving this discussion!
OP, FWIW, I have found it to be a wonderful name that has served me well my whole life ... easy to spell, easy to say, easy on the ears... and there never were a million of us, even when I was in elementary school. Different, without being weird.... |
One of the daughters of the British Prime Minister (David Cameron) is called Nancy. Think she's about 7. How I know this random fact I don't know. Actually it came up in a conversation with a group of mom friends as one of them said her cousin had named her little girl Nancy. So there are young girls called Nancy out there. |
My one and a half year old dd is named Nancy. She has an older sister who has a nancy in her class too. It's a family name and obviously I like it. |
OP here. Thanks for the feedback (lots of interest in this name - I love it!)
My mother was born not long after Frank Sinatra named his daughter Nancy - so apparently the name got lots of popularity for this reason (celebs have always been a trend setter for names, I guess). Anyway, my beloved mother recently passed away, so I thought it would be the perfect name for a very catchy middle that we already have in mind. Unfortunately, DH isn't a fan - and he thinks it's a lot to put on a second daughter.... Well, thanks for reading my thread, DCUM. |
I love it.
Does the rise have anything to do with Nancy pelosi? I know Madeline took off after Madeline albright was appointed. |
i love it! it's fresh and unique in 2011. |
It is a pretty name and it is your child. Frankly, a lot better than Apple and some of the other nutty names. |
My friend just named her daughter Anne and I know they were toying with Nancy as a nickname. But in the end they went with another nickname. |
