When is Chris Matthews going to be exposed for the racist that he is

Christian = race? When did this happen, and are we a minority now?

Thats he's anti-abortion and anti-gay marriage and not anti-christian.

Don't exactly know what you are getting at because like a lot of Catholics he is pro choice and for gay rights too.
Those types are what are known as "posers". Often times they become real catholics as they get closer to death. That is usually when Gods laws mean more to them and their stupid political opinions no longer matter.

I got the same schtick from my priest and the nuns. The fact is that U.S. Catholics' views - regardless of what the church says - are very similar to the country at large. For all of the doctrine, the fact is that the church always has and still does tolerate ambiguity in its ranks. For example, Haiti is 90% Catholic and 100% voodoo. No one has made any effort to change that. The Church knows that most people have sex before marriage, and that most use birth control. Everyone knows who the gay parishoners are, but your priest does nothing about it. The Church has not even dealt decisively with African priests who have "wives". It does not fight this as long as people don't openly challenge its authority.

In fact, 75% of U.S. Catholics believe that you can defy the Church's teaching on contraception and still be a good Catholic. That means that three quarters of us disagree with the proposition that you make, namely that Catholics who defy the Church on a matter of social doctrine are not real Catholics.

It may give you some comfort to believe that these people will be scared back into obedience, but the data does not suggest that. Adherence to doctrine is generational, but as time goes by the younger generations have shown little tendency to move back on matters of social issues as they get older. In fact, both Catholics and Americans at large in every age cohort are becoming more accepting of gay marriage as time goes by. This is the opposite of your prediction.

The Church is full of contradiction. If you haven't figured that out by now, it's a good time to start. By the way, of those priests who fed me that doctrine, two of them are out and they are married. They would be good priests if not for a policy that had nothing to do with the word of God but of a pope.
Enter through the narrow gate the highway to hell is broad and many there are that choose that way...like 75%. matthew 7;13 quoting christ.

Going to heaven-wise...it's always good to be in the minority.

How ironic that you would defend yourself with Mt 7. You know how it begins.

Nothing wrong with judging right vs. wrong and resisting the forces of sin. Matthew 7 correctly translated refers to not condemning. The point I was making is that the vast majority will always favor and accommodate sin. Thats why the road to destruction is wide and the road to salvation is narrow. People instinctively know that sodomy is a sin but refuse to accept themselves as sinners and therefore become angry at true christians, God and anyone who shines light on the activities. Everyone is a sinner and no sinner is more guilty than another. The kiss of death is when the sinner doesn't believe he is a sinner embraces sin.

19:40--Jesus was probably gay. A 34 year old who traveled with men and never married? Ancient Hebrews were allowed to practice homosexuality until early adulthood. It wasn't a sin according to some Talmudic interpretations. Your post is invalid.

No your theology is wrong. Check your catechism for the definition of sin, specifically 1857.

I was referring to pp at 19:20.

I've always thought of Matthews' misogyny as his primary flaw.

Is sodomy a sin when practiced by straight, married couples?

Morality evolves. We no longer ask rape victims to marry their rapists or take glee in the thought of dashing our enemies' babies against rocks. Read your bible for more examples of fucked up ideas of right and wrong. There are so many.

I think he is an egomanical horse's patoot. There is, however , no law against this, and he is just one among thousands in this area.

Read [i]The Last Temptation of Christ.[b] Not based on fact but a fascinating book.

I always thought the conventional wisdom was that he was sexist, not racist...much has been written about how he covered Hillary during her run vs how he covered Obama.

I don't think Matthews is racist. He is a religious bigot: a liberal Catholic who despises fundamentalists (and probably Mormons). He does seem to have some outdated ideas about women. His visceral hatred for Sarah Palin fits in with his network. He doesn't always think before he speaks and his intelligence is average. Apparently, this is not a liability in his line of work. On the other hand, if you watch him, you are part of a very small minority in the television audience.
