Tell me about the work environment at G.U.

As a religiously affiliated school I would think (hope) it provides a welcoming and encouraging environment.

How can they ban you from contacting previous employees? This doesn't sound right.

Do you really have to work there for 10 years to earn tuition benefit? Seems extreme.

Wow that's a really terrible thing to say. Sorry you have met some jerks. I doubt you'd think I'm a jerk if you met me.

No, this is not true. One year to receive benefits if taking classes at Gtown, three if taking classes elsewhere.

Not if you are trying to intimidate employees, or if you are scared yourself.

Ask the Finance Director.

By the time you reach high school you realize you are trapped in the reality that you are stuck at GU!!! What would you do? The answer is get the hell out of dodge !!

As someone else already posted about this but just wanted impart my personal experience - my mom (luckily not a psycho bitch!) has worked at GU my whole life but it was never the right school for me- GU tuition benefits still paid almost a third of my private, out of state, art school education. And my health insurance was covered until the age of 27 (most undergrads get kicked off their parents insurance once the finish their first degree)

For the most part people in her department seem really happy to work there.

This is true. My department which runs programs abroad and is located off campus is not so great. There are a few abusive managers. Several people left after having a nervous breakdown. Many people complained to HR and Affirmative Action but no action was ever taken. It started when the dept manager hired her acquaintance to become Adm Officer. It is really sad what is happening. We have now been told not to contact anybody who ever worked for that dept in the past (!). People are scared.

Wasn't this friend's position saved by any chance so that her daughter could receive tuition benefits when others in similar circumstances were fired?

I wonder what dept. it is.
