Where would you take your 5 year old for a bday trip?

OP here:: We don't really have a set budget for the trip, but we are a family of 4. If we go to Disney, there will surely be other family members (i.e., grandmothers and maybe an aunt) that will join us. When we go to Disney, we def. want to stay on property. With that in mind, we were thinking it may be too $$$$ right now.

Also, we're not concerned about setting a precedent for every bday. Our kids know that we'll do something extra special for bdays every 5 years (i.e., 5, 10, etc.). We also don't do big bday parties with friends every year. Sure we'll get to that as DC gets older, but for now we've avoided it.

I'm concerned about the idea of roaches in the room at GWL. Yikes! I really am not up for that. Can the PP that mentioned that please give some more details? When did you visit?

As for the winter sports suggestions, we're not "winter" people, but perhaps we should give it a try.

PP who suggested the park and a hike, we'd love to, but 1) it's January and 2) as I mentioned above, the 5s are going to be the big ones for our family.
