Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)

| Yay!!!! |
I'm trying to understand - why? |
because I stayed home to be with my kids. My youngest daughter goes to K in the fall. Next year would have been our last year together, and now it isn't. Now this is our last year together. Anyways, I understand the other side. If I was working full time now, then I prob. would've been for full day K. |

Stop talking and just vote already!!!
I'm watching it and Dan Storck is up now & DH just walked in and said "hey, Abraham Lincoln is in the school board?". LOL. |
fair enough. I just know that full-day K is the right thing for my child, and we were going to either move to another neighborhood or send her to a private school if our school hadn't gotten it this coming year. |
Me too - I totally get you. We will probably do private K now for our youngest (our oldest did half-day this year). |
| FY 2012 budget passes unanimously. |
What does this mean? Full day K for 2012? |
Full Day K for FY 2012, which begins July 1, 2011. |
| Full day in all schools or just the first group? |
Fairfax County Public Schools will have Full Day K in all elementary schools for FY 2012, which means September 2011 as the Fiscal Year starts on July 1, 2011. |
Yay! I wish they had done this last year. But I'm excited that at least one of my kids doesn't have to cram the entire Kindergarten curiculum into half a day .

| YEA! I was there for the public hearing. For those who oppose half day- it was interesting to hear a LOT of parents who spoke against half day K saying their children had not benefited (to put it lightly). These parents were speaking against the half day program and did NOT have any more children that would be going to kindergarten. That's powerful. Private and moving is always a choice to those who aren't happy (just like it was to those who didn't want half day). At least now ALL FFX Cty ES benefit from FDK.. not the forgotten 35.. |
Fixing error below- to those who oppose FULL day
