Infertility Support and Discussion
| PP 15:21 here - I recall the HSG has to be right after your period and before day 11 I think - so it shouldn't interfere with anything at all - SG does their's everyday - I think DF only does them on Thursdays if I recall. I do think you have to take an anti-biotic, but that's it - I just know how it feels to miss a cycle when you are ready to get on with it - |
You and me both, honey! I think, rather than paying thousands of dollars, I might even get dinner and a drink out of the deal. But then I come to my senses! Best of luck to you, and don't let me be a downer about injectibles. I'm just an internet fertility specialist. We're not even going to look that far in the future, we're going to assume that 50 mg of Clomid and good monitoring does the trick.
As for the HSG, I was surprised that Dr. Sacks did mine. I guess I'm so used to being "outsourced" for medical tests like this that I find doctors who actually do their own work to be unusual. But it was a little weird riding up in the elevator with him to the the radiology offices, making small talk, knowing that in a few minutes I was going to be in the stirrups. |
| Have any of you seen that early L Word episode where Bette and Tina try to get some random guy to have unprotected sex with Tina to get her pregnant and he runs away saying that they just want to steal his sperm? I find the whole show ridiculous, and that episode was particularly so terrible it's funny. |

Hey, 41 yr old SMC, also "unexposed"--I had one unsuccessful IUI thus far--and to a previous poster, I'm also switching to Dr. Sacks. Had a horrid experience with Dr. Butler but Dr. Sacks has a good reputation, particularly among the SMC crowd.
To the OP--because I can't get in with Dr. Sacks in time this month, I'm going to do at home inseminations. I think that if I'm not pg after that, I'll do the HSG, but I'm going to do it with my OB, that I LOVE. I hate dealing with REs and RE clinics thus far. My experience has been horrid, they want to jump to treatment but my MAIN fertility issue is lack of a partner! Again to the OP--I've also been working with acupuncturists, and I feel like their advice is solid. I know a woman who tried for THREE YEARS, she has a partner, they tried naturally, IUI, IVF, without success, she's now pregnant after two months with an acupuncturist, going twice a week. I would recommend that, I think giving our systems a boost naturally at our age is a good thing. |
