How do you deal with the daily grind?

I love this! Great idea.

OP, why are you posting on a parenting website?

Three options. Get a high paying job, work your ass off, live frugally, and save like mad. So you can retire early and move to a low cost-of-living place and finally live.

Or find a job that will let you work from home at least part of the time. Just one day a week from home would make a huge difference. If for no other reason, it gives you a change of scenery. But you also get to sleep in a bit later and without commuting time, your personal time is longer, you are more relaxed, and you are also able to make phone calls and do other small things around the house while you are working.

Or you make the jump now. Get out of expensive DC and go live.

But I can't, and that's okay, because the kids add more meaning and joy than all of that stuff would.

Right on, lady! Exactly what I was thinking.

Before kids, I use to run my errands on my way home from work a couple times per week-that use to free up quite a bit of time on the week-ends. Also, I would order a lot of things online vs. going to the stores. Huge convenience especially when it's free shipping.

After kids...NO free time. I'm lucky if i can get 7 hours of sleep each night.
