URGENT: Flying with car seat and stroller

Anonymous
if baby is traveling on your lap, why not check the carseat with a skycap or just inside the terminal? it doesn't make sense to lug it all the way to the gate if baby isn't sitting in it. I have done this several times and it worked fine - geting DS, diaper bag, a stroller and one rolling bag through security and to the gate (I also checked a pack-n-play) was about all I could manage by myself. You are lucky to have your mom to help.

It will all go smoothly. Good luck!

I just came back last night on United and no problems with either being gate checked. I use a clear comforter cover bag (sold at Linens and Things) to cover the seat when it goes under the plane. You can also use a garbage bag.

Unrelated to seats, strollers, etc., but from my own experience of several years ago -- wear shoes that are easy to quickly slip-off, get into the x-ray bin and then quickly step back into (with out having to undue sandal straps, laces, etc.) DH always wore athletic shoes on trips and while he was busy unlacing his shoes - la la la - I was busy handling toddler, stroller, stuffed animal, diaper bag, and the like.

And, don't forget to enjoy your trip!

OP here. Glad to know the garbage bag works. I was wondering about that. Also, thanks to the PP about the shoe tip. I really appreciate it. If there's anything else I need to know, keep it coming, guys. And thank you!

Re: having the car seat fit the stroller, if you have the snap'n'go, most infant car seats fit it. They may not "snap" in, but they sit on top and you can buckle the straps over the top of the car seat. Its not precarious, even though it may sound that way, and its what we used the first 4 months of our DD's life. So check it out and see if that works--even if the companies dont say that it works.
