I was born in 1982 and graduated High School in 2000, so I'm a Y'er?

What comes after Z? AA? heh.

For previous posters, especially the Gen Ys, what generalizations about your generation apply and don't apply to you?

1980. Definitely Gen X. Gen Y is the little kids. The test is how fast can you text message.

I was born in 1982. Graduated from high school in 2000, college in 2004. While I am right at the beginning of Y or end of X, I feel more like an X. I am married to a Y and I feel it acutely when we are with younger friends. I am much more comfortable with our friends who are solidly gen X.

All of you who were born in 1980, I'm sorry, but you aren't Gen X. No way, no how. You want to think you are but, the experiences you had versus those of us born in the mid-60's to early 70's is vastly different.

Born in 79 and definitely an Xer. I can take criticism. I might not like it or agree with it, but I wont cry and tell you how unfair your being and why does everyone in the company seem to hate me?!?!/1

Listening to Nirvana felt like an awakening, Alice in Chains felt like a revolution, and I can remember where I was when I heard about both Curt and Layne. I miss my Doc Martens and I still think Chuck Taylors are a fashionable part of any outfit.

Please elaborate.

1979 Gen X, my 1978 DH is more Gen Y.

Born in 1972. Total Gen X. Still have my Bauhaus tshirt. Force my children to listen to The Replacements all the time.

1978. Generation X. I have noticed a big dividing line as far as technology use right around 1980 births or so. I would consider my little sister, born 1982 to be Gen Y. I use technology frequently and fairly well, but I don't live and breathe it like people a few years younger.

1976 and definitely Gen X.

So true. I try to keep up on tech trends, but I don't care if I'm one or two gens behind the cutting edge, and I'm sure as hell not lining up for hours just to get the newest iCrap the SECOND it comes out.

I'm Gen X, according to what I've read. I was born in '77. I don't know the stereotypes associated with either generation.

1966 -- definitely Gen X. I find it kind of crazy that the 1980 (and later) births see themselves as Xers too, since they didn't live through much of what is so formative about the 70s (I mean, I remember Nixon resigning, played on an early Atari, remember the gas lines in the late 70s ... ), but I guess a 14/15 year gap falls within the definition of "generation". Perhaps the generations are turning a little faster these days ...
