| That's me but it's probably not a problem if you are heavy but not obese, I hope! |
I am overweight, very much so with a high BMI. Some fertility clinics (the BIG ones) only go by statistics. If you fall into this nice box than we will treat you and we will more than likely have success and we can rave about our wonderfull statistics. Well let me tell you, if you are obese and want a baby than look at other smaller centers in the area. Don't give up hope just b/c weight is an issue. Yes, it is true that weight can have an affect on fertility, but it also may not! I wasted months and months waiting to lose weight to try to "fit into the box" and be treated by a well known clinic and I was getting more and more depressed. Talking to my OB was a great thing for me, b/c they were appauled that the big clinic refused to help me! They referred me to another (wonderfull!!!) place who agreed to work with me and ... I am now 7 wks along So, I just wanted to give the obese women some hope ..... keep trying!

| 5'4" and 280lbs, great pregnancy with 1 IUI. |
This is not true. Anyone can get GD. |
| I got pregnant after trying 3-4 months at 5'11", 230 lbs. |
| I had successful IVF when I weighed about 230lbs and about to go back for my second child. |
| I got pregnant with #1 at 220 lbs and #2 at 200 lbs. No problem getting pregnant (1st month at 34 for #1; 3rd month at 37 for #2), BUT I got pre-eclampsia with the second, and will not try for a third unless I lose a lot of weight (currently ~200). |

I was overweight while TTC, and found that essentially the moment my BMI went from "obese" to just "overweight" my cycles became completely normal 28-day cycles with ovulation on day 14. Prior to that, while still obese, my cycles were all over the place.
All of that said, we still needed IVF to conceive (male factor the first time around, MF + low ovarian reserve the 2nd time) but my weight clearly impacted my cycles and my ability to conceive. |
| If you have acne too, I'd get checked for PCOS. |
