| A few hundred. We like looking, and we found the right place for us (a condo in the city). We had purchased for a 5 year stay, but it has been seven, and we are happily raising our child here. |
| 150+ -- We looked for 2 years. We *love* our house. It made all of the looking worthwhile. |

Looked at tons on line (we re relocating from NYC). Looked at 4 or 5 in person, bid on the first one that we liked and got it. Its were 8 other bidders and the only reason we got it was because I got cute with the top end my offer (this was when escalation clauses were necessary). Our maximum as $1,100,099. We were told the the next closest bidder had $1.1 million. The entire processs took three months.
We love the house and as a added bonus we ended up in one the best school districts which came in handy when I quit my job to stay home and killed the private school plan that we had when we first moved down here. |

1st house- We looked at about 15. Liked the house, didn't love the neighborhood.
2nd house- We looked at about 20. Liked it, but it wasn't perfect. We bought it at the height of the bidding wars and weren't in a position to wait to find the perfect house (which we probably would have been out-bidded for anyway). 3rd house- We looked at 2. By that time, we knew exactly what we were looking for. |

Looked at hundreds online. Did lots of research on neighborhoods. Did lots of research on home construction. (Architecture/urban planning is a hobby of mine.) Visited dozens of open houses.
Looked at a dozen or so houses each time within the span of a few weeks. Bought two homes in the last 7 years this way. |
| Bought the first one we looked at. I was pregnant and in a hurry. I am happy, because we bought for location and price and could care less about the specific features of the house. |
