When you drop your or DC's toothbrush on the bathroom floor ...

I suspect that at preschool my child is exposed to far more germs than the floor of a bathroom that is regularly cleaned and used only by my DC.
I rinse with hot water and reuse.

Where do you keep the toothbrush? Out on the counter in a toothbrush holder/cup? If so, the toothbrush almost certainly has fecal matter on it.

FWIW, I just rinse it off with hot water and let them keep using it.

OP, do you have boys or girls? My son regularly walks around with his hand down his pants for warmth... I doubt the toothbrush hitting the floor bothers him.

I prefer to buy mine locally when I can, but no one stays in business for long (sigh). There are a few excellent suppliers in California, but I don't want that Japanese radiation!

I probably rinse if off. But I can't be sure because I wouldn't even think about long enough for it permanently register in my brain.

Rinse and reuse. Jeez.

Typical DCUM lunacy...if you bathe your kid's ass more than once a week, you're a psychotic neat freak; but, if a toothbrush hits the floor, you need to drive it to a dairy and run it through the pasturization machine or else you're a filthy mess.

I'd just rinse it off. Maybe not even in hot water. It's a miracle my kid is still alive!

We don't wear shoes in the house, so we just rinse it well with warm water.

Unless it drops into the toilet, in which case it gets tossed.

Serious nut cases who have been brainwashed by clorox and fabreeze ads. Nuts.

Geez, that's all we need around here-a couple of SAHDs with too much time on their hands. You sanctidaddies make me want to barf!

You people are the reason our schools are 'nut-free zones' (if only DCUM were). All this obsessive cleanliness isn't good for the immune system. A toothbrush hitting the floor in your own house is a reason to toss it? Whatevs.

I'm supposed to wash it?
