
Why not tax those who consume any alcoholic drink. A 50 cent tax on every beer, $1.00 on scotch or bourbon on the rocks; and, $2.00 tax n any other kind of drink, except wine, which would be 50 cents/glass and $5.00/bottle whether on or off and at all liquor stores. National debt would be erased within ten years. |
The actual article says that the fine tied to diabete is only for those who are disregarding a doctor's recommendation to lose weight in order to help manage it. That means that if you have Type 1 diabetes and so eat healthy always but are just born that way it doesn't sound like this covers you. on the other hand, MOST of the diabetes is Type 2 and IS very strongly tied to bad eating habits.
I'm a PP who said it's a good idea and I still think so. I also agree that $50 a year (as in, about a dollar week) is no where near what these behaviors actually cost the system and $1 a week is NOT much even for the very poor. |
