Are you the mom of one of the 6 teenaged BCC boys having dinner tonight at 5 Guys Bethesda?

Give credit where credit is due. Great post Op!

Marauding, cursing, leaving their trays on the table louts? Too much! I'm the mom of a 14-year-old. So, this amuses me.

Well, yes. This is what I see most often.

I like this post and don't think it is odd at all. I do not disagree that many teens are well-behaved, but what is so refreshing is someone posting about seeing positive behavior in order to *compliment* another parent here on DCUM. Usually it's all griping and nit-picking. I think we need more posts like this to balance all of the complaining.

So, Thanks, OP! I hope at least one of the parents gets to see this and have a happy moment being proud of their teen.

There are plenty of parents who teach their kids to be a**holes just like them, OP. The world owes them, supposedly. So yes, OP this is a great post!

ITA and assure you that no one would have posted this about my teenage friends.

Sounds like there are some folks with some negative tudes about teens out there!

PP - OP was just trying to be nice. I say there isn't enough of that. May your DC grow up to treat you just like you treat others.

OP here. I was surprised this morning to see so many posts. I was truly happy to see such a wonderful group of kids who were not trying to set an example for my young but impressionable kids that night but who did anyhow. It was heartwarming and encouraging to us to see that the positive parenting of others truly paid off and all I wanted to do was offer a compliment to the parents of those boys.

Of course, we all know now what happened across the street at Lululemon just an hour later so I can see how my post may seem trivial to some but one compliment to one set of parents should not be viewed as generalizing and I wish it had not been met by some with generalizing in return.

OP,
Again, you have a warped idea of teens!

I work near BCC and live near WJ - I have been uniformly impressed by BCCs highschoolers - at Starbucks and walking along E-W highway - they all seem rather nice kids (maybe the hooligans walk out the other way - On the other hand, WJ has a (tiny) contingent of kids that hang out near Giant and Flippin' Pizza that smoke, slouch and generally seem sketchy (it's the smoking part that makes them seem sketchy) - but they don't bother me, so I don't bother them. Can't say I've seen the same contingent at B-CC.

Old thread, but check out the high school-aged crowd outside Chipotle in downtown Bethesda (across from Safeway) in the evening. Sketchy.

I have been hearing a lot of this BCC place. Where is it located?

Agree pp. I work at GWU and I am middle-aged. A lot of the students often tell me how ageist folks are. The older folks act surprised when the young folks act respectfully or are smart.

I'm used to young people acting great. Maybe OP doesn't get out much.
