The very short path to a $100K+ DC government job

Did Brown actually graduate from college? I don't see a date or degree listed.

He was one of Gray's fraternity brothers.

LOL! Are you suggesting that SuBrown was actually a child prodigy and attended GW as a toddler?

Brown has a degree in Business Administration from UDC.

Someone wants Rhee back? Really? The person who could not fire first year teachers - not the hardest thing to do - which may cost the city $7.5MM. The woman who now talks about how bad DCPS Central office was, but she ran it for 3 years. The woman who gave the teachers raises that were so high, those of us with law degrees and master's degrees cannot ever think of getting a raise. Teachers in DC make more than lawyers. The city could not afford the raises, but she did it. Talk about Wisconsin? Please. Rhee is now a Republican darling and she happily gave away the store.

I thought his resume listed "University of the District of Colombia". Maybe in Bogota?

Nope, merely making a snarky allusion to Fenty's own pecadillos.

Maybe Gray needs to take up bike riding, that ought to make him popular among the Upper NW types.

These are allegations of criminal conduct and there seems to be quite a bit of circumstantial evidence that they are true. I didn't see the press conference today but I assume Gray claimed no knowledge of this. While he may have answered all questions, were the answers he provided plausible and believable? Can we trust him in future? I wonder if this guy will just way what he thinks people want to hear.. I was a Fenty supporter in the election, but after the election, I really wanted to believe that Gray would move the city forward. I really feel like whatever hope I had has been shattered today, but as a long-time dc resident I really wish I am wrong.

What allegations of criminal conduct? The only possible charges would be related to campaign finance. That would result in a fine at best. Add all the Gray and Brown scandals together and they are less money then a single Fenty frat-boy contract. That's not to minimize Gray's problems, but to put them in perspective.

Errrrr, you do know that Grays son profited from those frat-boy contracts too..... Didn"t you ever wonder why Gray did not bring the subject up during the race?

I, for one, did not know about that. Could you give a link?

Yeah, I would like to see a link as well. First, Gray brought up Banneker Ventures all the time. Even called on Peter Nickels to resign over the affair. As for Carlos Gray, a bit of mythology has grown up around him. The frat brother contracts were for Parks and Recreations work. However, Fenty routed the contracts through the Housing Authority. Carlos Gray was a mid level manager in the Housing Authority. Some of Fenty's tinfoil hat wearers have been making a big issue out of this. The previous poster apparently twisted it into Carlos benefitting from the contracts. But, you will wait a long time for any evidence of such a benefit.

Getting back to Brown's resume...Today's Post reports that he has an attempted-murder charge in Chicago and six run-ins with law enforcement. And, according to the Post, the administration knew about three of the D.C. charges and the protective order filed by a minor before offering him the DHCF job. Defend if you wish.

Not to defend Brown, who I think is a clown, I am that a charge of which he was acquitted and one for which there was not even an indictment, are being publicized as though he had been convicted. As I said, I don't want to defend him, but why muddy the waters when there is plenty of legitimate ground for criticism, by bringing up this stuff? It gives me more reason to think the Post is still so enamored of Fenty that they use any excuse to pile on Gray.

NPR's All Things Considered just featured this clown show and I am so disgusted that this city is back to being national laughingstock. Even if Gray is exonerated, there is really no way to recover from this. At the very least, there's evidence that the Gray campaign had an ongoing rapport with Sulaimon Brown and you have to question the judgement of anyone who would want anything to do with him. Gray looks bad if he didn't know about it but he looks worse if he did know about it.
