Measles scare at three airports...including Dulles

You can also get measles from the vaccine itself...so who is safe, really? This is by the CDC's own admission.

Is not usually fatal. Who are the asshole parents who play those odds?

Vaccines are not usually fatal either.

I got chicken pox as an adult, and oh my god! it has tough! I never realized how exhausting high fever is - and luckily, I did not have any complications. I had fever of 102-104 for 2-3 days before getting covered with the rash, and it felt like I ran a marathon for 3 days. I was completely exhausted by it. The doctor also said that it is much lighter in children than it is in adults.

Isn't measles one of those diseases that can be devastating to an unborn baby?

I'm not anti-vaccine, in fact, we stayed on the schedule, do flu shots etc. I will say though that calling anti-vax people crazy is not productive. Honestlt, it is not because I fully trust that the vaccines are safe it is because I believe the risks from secondary infection from a hospital stay if DC was to become ill or some type of medical mistake once he was in a hospital setting is higher than the vaccine risk.

It is true that long term studies on many of the vaccines or their components have not be done. There is a conflict of interest when drug companies pay for studies and control the release of the outcomes. Doctors abuse patient trust by giving the Hep B at the hospital for public health interests when many kids will get a second, redundant dosage weeks later at their peditrician's office. I had not realized that vaccination requirements differ by states. I always assumed that everyone follows the CDC but I guess states with big pharma require more vaccines than others for school entry. The quick adoption of Guardisol onto the schedule, lobby efforts, money at stake, and marketing have even been questioned by the more conservative factions of the medical community.

Doctors will claim that the vaccine side effect reporting is better than for any other pharmaceutical but this is not saying much. I know that my DS will spike a very high fever after some vaccines or vomit within 8 hours after receiving one and then be fine. I called our ped to let them now and their answer was oh its probably just a virus and a coincidence. My response was really, because this is the second time it has happened, wouldn't you register the issue just to collect the data? I had no intention of stopping vaccinations for my kids because a fever and throwing up is not that big a deal but BS on the reaction reporting.

Until the medical community gets it act together, collects unbiased data, and shows some honesty rather than partonizing people who ask legitimate and honest questions, we will probably continue to see a decline in vaccination.

Rubella is the one that can cause miscarriages (I believe). They're in the same family, but different illnesses (I believe).
