younger sibling trying to go to same elementary school (GT center)

Interesting. I don't know anyone who tranferred in this year I guess, but I know of at least 3 people who have transferred kids in for various reasons in the last 1-3 years. Mantua is also well under capacity for the school as a whole and projected to stay that way.

Read the 02/19/2011 19:24 post above you in this thread -- there's your answer.

I read that and am STILL confused. I thought what that PP posted was not at all clear.

I read this on the FCPS wesbite:

Can a sibling of a student in the full-time AAP (level IV) center be transferred to the same school?
A parent or guardian may request a student transfer for his or her school-aged child (K-12) for the next school year during transfer season. Student transfers are made on a space available basis and must meet one of the requirements in regulation 2230:
(1) family relocation;
(2) child care hardship (elementary only);
(3) medical, emotional, social adjustment;
(4) FCPS parent employee working 20 or more hours per week; or
(5) high school curricular program.
Parents or guardians are advised to review the student transfer regulation and frequently asked questions before making a request. Student transfer information

So to me, this says that transfers might be approved if they meet one of those 5 criteria. I would be seeking a transfer based on #2.

They have added a 6th category:

1. Family relocation *
2. Child care hardship (elementary only) *
3. Medical, emotional, or social adjustment *
4. FCPS parent employee working 20 or more hours per week*
5. High school curricular program*
6. Sibling in requested school

Really? In which case, that's great. Although I still need to think about the years after older child is in MS.
