charter schools overhyped?

Anonymous
The charters might seem to be overhyped compared to the alternative. With very few exceptions, and given the vast amount of money spent on education, is it any surprise that there is no hype raining on the rest of the DCPS? And I think you are probably a shill for the WTU. Okay, even if you aren't, it's caveat emptor like so many other things.

The school does a lot of work in small groups. I believe my child would have gotten lost in the larger class size of some of the oversubscribed JKLM classes. The teachers at his PCS really know him and how he learns - and not just his classroom teachers, his specials teachers as well.

The school board? That makes no sense. Unlike DCPS, the charter board isn't responsible for enrollment and can't shift you to other schools on your lottery list. Hyping and bashing are human nature.

Let's try to give each other a break. DC school options are kind of complicated, regardless of your education. Saying "charter" is like saying "private". It's a type of school, not a school system.

To PP inbounds for JKLM but charter, glad to hear it's working! Your child deserves access to what works for him no matter where you live. IMHO

OP, you have a pont. Don't believe [any] hype. (OMG, did I just paraphrase Flava Flav?)
