Look at the year. It is from 2011. Who on earth has the energy to dig this up, I don't know.

Those were from 2011 my dear.

LOL

It probably could have been from 1921 and the same sentiment would still apply... about feeling Valentines Day Blues.

Who works late on valentines day (besides chefs)? That would raise huge red flags for me.

Whatever 11:59...I'm a lawyer and even I would never work late on valentines day. He is squeezing in a dinner with his mistress before heading home.

Hmmm...I don't know...people like us who are going out of town this weekend. My DH will probably work late so he can get his work done before the weekend. And I'll be up late packing and getting everything ready for the trip. We've never really made a big deal about valentime's day. I mean, I think we tried one year and realized you get squashed into some overpriced restaurant. And then we went back to not celebrating it.

If your spouse said she planned to make a special dinner and make fire and your response was that you had to work late then something is wrong.

CPAs doing audits and corporate returns work late every day from January - April. I am married to one. I am the sister to one. I am the sister-in-law to another.

There is nowhere in OP's original post that she told her husband she had made these plans. It could have been her surprise waiting for him.

Make yourself happy first!! Go out and treat yourself. I bought myself some nice pink tulips from Trader Joes a couple days ago. Jsut looking at them cheers me up.

My mom and dad dropped off big dish of chicken parmigana, pasta and gift bags for my kids this morning. They are the best and always have me covered. I WAH but was in the Office 1/2 day for a meeting. My cleaning lady was doing her biweekly cleaning. I came home to a clean house, dinner in the fridge and about to head to kids' school Valentine's party...doesn't much matter what DH does or does not do for me later today. I got myself covered.

I did buy him 2 bottles of really good wine for me (I mean him)--so I can crack those open if I get disappointed. Ha!

Happy Valentine's Day, OP!

I like your sentiment pp. For the others with the blues...do something for yourself and try not to sulk. I know it is hard, but try it and you'll feel better.

Did he give a reason? and how late? I would still go ahead, tell him that you are planning a special evening and he needs to he home by "x" time.
