Interesting report showing that DC residents are the lowest taxed in the region, even families earning $200K. I live in Logan Circle. I walk to work every morning, my kids are in a great school, and I have two great parks within walking distance. We take a short bus ride to the zoo whenever we want. We visit the Smithsonians on cloudy days to get out of the house. For the record, I've never had brown water coming out of my pipes. My power lines are buried, so we've almost never had an outage. Our sidewalks and roads are pretty well-maintained. My trash is picked up twice a week, and we have a responsive police force in the neighborhood. |
Yeah, I really don't get this either. My parents who live out in the Greater Rockviille-Gaithersburg Clusterfuck see their power go out four times as often as we do (on Cap Hill), and it's usually out for *days*, no the hours our outages last. Kids go to a great public school that we walk or ride our bike to every morning. And my wife's commute is about 10 blocks on neighborhood streets with bike lanes and 25 mph speed limits. Seems a bit delusional to live in the far NW in-DC suburbs, or in Bellevue across the river, and complain about the commute. Heck, those places are more remote and sprawly than parts of Northern Virginia. |
Is this part of a "meme" because, wow, that's in bad taste. |
