OP here - thanks for all the great suggestions! I will try them out. I love the suggestion of me time at home, but the baby still takes a morning nap so that will have to wait until later.

Drive thru the krispy kreme and put a movie on the dvd player in the car. the baby will sleep in the car and the toddler will be thrilled.

How about a college library? I'm not from the area so I can't recommend one but where I went to college, nobody was upstairs in the comfy chairs dotted among the stacks of books.
