Tell me what car to buy!!

My husband got a 2011 Hyundai Sonata and he loves that car. Loves it. There was recently a commercial that touted that the 2011 Hyundai Sonata owners love their cars more than any owner of any car in known history. I actually kind of believe it, because DAMN, he loves that car. And he isn't even a car person.

It is kind of a sweet car. I considered getting one for myself, but I just can't, because then we'd be the Sonata people.

Maybe more car than you are looking for, since you only have one child, but we love our cute mini "van" Mazda 5 - seats 6, handy sliding doors which are great in tight parking spots, and is the same size as our Corolla with an even tighter turn around! I have 2 children, so fold the third row and can lug the huge stroller plus endless groceries. Can also do car pooling and grandparents chauffeuring

We bought it for 17K at Sheehy Mazda.

I LOVE my Honda CRV. It has lots of truck space, reliable, comfortable.

Love VW's - what about a Jetta or used Passat? The wagon is great. Recommend Stohlman in Tyson's. DH and I have bought several cars from them and gotten great deals (and DH is a car guy).

Also, second the recommendation of the Mazda 3.

I've heard nothing but bad things about VWs, which is too bad because I think they look nice.

I'm partial to Honda myself and am on my second Honda Civic. First one was the 2 door hatchback SI which was FUN to drive (manual trans only. . .) but had to give it up for a four door when DC#1 came along. The four door civic has been great but we are outgrowing it because we have #2 on the way and the back seat is tight with one enormous car seat. With two there would be no room at all except floor space. But if you are only having one, a civic or fit should fit your needs fine

That's so funny. That's what we did. We got a low-mileage used Honda accord. Great safety ratings. $24,000. Low lifetime costs. Reasonable mileage, although not the very best out there. And the best part is not what I expected: it came with tinted windows. I never in a million years would have guessed how great tinted windows are at helping your baby stay asleep in the car and keeping it cooler in the summer...
