VBAC Question at Sibley?

Do you know of actual instances where Dr. Tchabo did not show up for delivery?

Yes. We still to this day don't know where he was! Probably in a c/section or something. The reality is that when a baby is ready, it is born and the care provider won't always be there. However, Tchabo seems to be even more relaxed than your average care provider in this regard, because he has a team of residents who cover for him (under his direction, of course).

Thanks (not OP, but one who asked this question). I delivered my baby with Tchabo (and resident). There were some complications that were swiftly handled because Tchabo was in the room. I don't know that this would have been the case at all had he not been there. He verbally instruced the resident through and even scrubbed in later. So this is a lingering issue of doubt/discomfort for me (assuming there is a "next time.")

Question - couldn't you, upon checking in to hosp & signing paperwork, refuse to be seen/treated by residents and thereby assure your delivery with Tchabo? I'm asking b/c I'm considering switching to him, but definitely do not want baby delivered by a resident!
