What do you use a stick blender for?

You need the whisk, but you might be able to buy it separately.

I whip cream without a whisk attachment. It works fine though it might go faster with a whisk.

You'd need to be whipping a pretty significant amount of cream to use the stick by itself. Small batches won't be deep enough.

And as I'm a NP on this thread, I'll just pile on with: butternut squash soup, broccoli-cheddar soup, the butter/sugar phase of cookies, all cake batters, anything needing chopped (nuts, dry bread for crumbs), and many more. The stick blender is my single most-used small appliance. I think I've used my regular blender once (for frozen drinks) sicne I got the stick.
