deperssed for Christmas Dinner -- need ideas

I think you got a lot of great suggestions, so just wanted to add a little emotional support - growing up i was an extremely picky eater - I remember eating two items on the thanksgiving dinner table - but now as an adult not only am I a much more varied eater, but also I have wonderful, nostalgic memories of holiday meals with my family, even though intellectually I know I didn't eat much of the meal - so if you make it festive and special in your own way, i suspect your children will appreciate it in the long run. Have a great Christmas!

thanks PP! That's really nice to hear.

I've decided that this will be our family's tradition:

Christmas Eve: fish and cheese meal

Adults: smoked trout appetizer, fancy cheese appetizer, crab bisque, and salmon with dill or something along those lines
Kids: any of the fish they like, plus mac n cheese

Christmas Morning breakfast:

champagne, OJ, homemade high protein waffles, sausages

Christmas dinner:

rack of lamb chops, haven't decided what else yet.

Sounds yummy, OP.

Not sure how old your kids are, when mine were younger we read Twas the Night Before Christmas Eve, when they were older we would play charades. Try to think of things that would be meaningful and fun.

Hope you are no longer feeling "depressed".

Another idea is to go out to dinner on Christmas Day. Hotel restaurants are open. My kids loved eating at the Omni, one year we went to the Daily Grill in the hotel on Wisconsin. They had a buffet and my kids got a kick out of eating breakfast for dinner. If you are the type to like to be around lots of people you might have fun doing something like that. In a restaurant everyone gets to eat just what they like.

Have you tried rack of lamb? You can buy a small set. It looks impressive, but is really easy.

I also like PP's fondue idea. What a fun X-mas tradition!

I agree- I was the pickiest eater- all I ate were noodles and rolls and maybe a bite of meat...but I still remember those family meals!
