Is Pregnancy Considered a Pre-Existing Condition?

For short term disability insurance, you will not be covered for childbirth if your policy became effective in the nine motnhs prior to the birth. Essentially, pregnancy is a pre-existing condition that disqualifies you for childbirth benefits through short term disability.

As far as I know this is true of all policies. (And really makes perfect sense when you think about it.)

I started a new job when I was 8 weeks pregnant, and was able to use the company's ST disability policy for maternity leave without any problem.
