Would you try again?

Agree with the posters above. I did a successful cycle with Dr Peters at SIRM in NJ and he is excellent. The drive is not impossible. Mentally committing to go out of state was the hardest part. Once we had the initial call and committed to the cycle, the rest was just fell into place like any other cycle here.

OP here. Thanks for your responses. I've done a consultation with Dr. Davis at Cornell. I had MD IPA so I wasn't covered for a cycle up there, so I did the EPP down here with Sacks.

I talked to Widra today, who is my doctor and he was actually on board with me doing a cycle with them. I was planning to do donor when we first met with Widra, but due to the new insurance we reconsidered. Widra said that my antral follicle count is good, over 10, and my FSH is pretty low, 9, though my estrogen is a bit elevated, but not drastically so, 85. He was also on board with the EPP. He told me he uses the exact same protocol that Davis uses and that he actually consulted with Davis and asked for his protocol. (I know Davis monitors the drugs very carefully and "steps down" towards retrieval, and it's all about his magic drug tweaking.)

Widra said that with my numbers, I have a 90% chance of going to retrieval and a 25% chance of live birth. Also, SG's lab is better and I've always made it to transfer, just not with a lot of embryos. (2, 2 and 4)

I had considered going up to NY when I found out about the insurance, but cash is still an issue. We can come up with $1000 out of pocket for the round at SG. (though it would be covered by the FSA) In NY, while the IVF is all covered, the hotel room, food etc, is not covered and can't be reimbursed by the FSA, if I'm not mistaken. At that point, I think we would want to put that cash towards donor.

Actually, I'm pretty sure I remember reading that you can cover medical travel expenses under the FSA.
