I really disagree with all the posters here. I have not found the hospital gown comfortable at all, since it provides no boob support (I am medium-chested but still like some support!) and it hangs open and has too much material all around. For a natural delivery where you want to move around a lot, with people massaging you, get in and out of the tub or shower, and not be worried about stepping out in the hall I'd wear a (loose) sports bra/bikini top and a short skirt. Just like the OP is wondering about. I'd also have a t-shirt to throw on if I left my hospital room.
And, maybe the OP isn't even delivering in a hospital. Also, I don't care if some clothing item gets blood or poop on it, everything can be washed. I've seen births be neat and clean just as often as they are messy. Sometimes women don't get anything at all on their gown. |
I'm the PP -- I forgot to say that I don't think it's necessary to buy a special expensive skirt. You can just use a maternity skirt or a short loose elastic waist skirt. I bet you could find something just fine at a thrift store. |
I love what the ad says--
"Look and feel more like yourself." LOL! I wasn't myself--I was pushing a 9 lb human out of my hoo-ha!--I doubt a skirt would have made me feel differently. |
That is hilarious! |
This is so incredibly silly, I thought it was a joke!!
OP: If you're so concerned about modesty, why not just layer two hospital gowns? You can wear one with the closure in the back and one with the closure in the front. Also, please be sure to post back after you give birth. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this issue once you've gone through labor. My guess is you'll agree that a birth skirt would have been an absurd waste of money! Looking cute and remaining modest are the furthest things from your mind -- especially if you're going without an epidural (and even if you are.) Good luck to you. |
If someone wants to throw away $50... can I request you just send it to me![]() ![]() |
