Do kids with high functioning autism or PDD-NOS every graduate from therapies?

I just met a college student who was PDD-NOS. No therapy, mainstream college, a bit lazy according to his parents but I think they don't consider him as PDD any longer.

Plays collegiate soccer, was even recruited. Went to a strict catholic boys HS.

Gives us hope.
