What do you do for your husbands family over the holidays?

Anonymous
My DH's family does joke gifts for the adults (which are MIL, FIL, BIL, SIL, and SIL's husband). For instance, last year SIL got a Sue Sylvester track suit, etc. It's fun, but it can be hard to think of stuff year after year. I used to do all of the holiday shopping, but DH is taking care of it this year.

For my side, we just buy for the nieces and nephew (3 total so far, all very young) and my parents.

Bull! Christmas is for adults, too, and you don't have to buy them gifts. Just be nice to them and if they live close by invite them to dinner more than once a year. Maybe trying be nice for a whole year. If kids over ten don't send a thank you note, I don't send gifts for any occasion.

I agree. I don't get the "Christmas is only for kids" sentiment. It's not about the money. It's about the thought and the celebration (i.e., inviting over for dinner). Christmas still has a magical feel even as an adult (though not the same as a child). I love the idea of Secret Santa, where you only buy one gift / stock one stocking. Yes. the holidays are busy. But, why does it have to be viewed as a hassle?

What's the agreement in his family? Our agreement is we buy for the nieces and nephews, not the brothers and sisters in law.
