Reunion time! Two months postpartum with skinny bitch friends

Mommy like! But how did YOU like it? How'd the draping do with the cleavage issue?
Anonymous
There was no cleavage, which is both good and bad: a little more skin would distract from other areas and be sexy, but I think it also can make me look heavier (think Anna Nicole Smith). I may buy this as a back-up. It was hard to decide with two screaming kids. In the store they showed it with a leopard print cardigan which was cute.

I went to the mall today (with the baby and my toddler ... It was sort of a disaster) and wore spanx (excellent idea!!). Tried on this dress:

Not sure about the neckline but what do you think of the style?

I think it's just fine, especially if it fits you well and you feel comfortable. It needs some accessories, for sure. A long chain necklace or even a chunky one, or even better if you can find a necklace that introduces some color to the outfit. I think the style is great, but I would be hesitent to wear something from the Gap to a reunion. Only becuase it's the sort of thing that lots of people will have seen and you might want something more special for such an occasion. But if you rock the outfit, that's the only thing that matters.

Here is a great dress for hiding

This would show off an hourglass figure and could work, depending on how that waistline seam hits you

This one could be flattering if you're legs are in good shape and you wear some killer heels with it. It's also less of a "cocktail dress" which is more fun for a 10 yr reunion. And you can wear a real bra.

Love this, as long as it's not too form fitting. It would work if it has a boxy shape to it like it looks in the picture.

This one is like your gap dress on steroids.

PP - those are lovely suggestions. But perhaps OP doesn't want to spend too much $$ in her current *temporary* state (we all know how that is).

We all know it's so difficult to try to shop w/little ones along. The GAP dress OP posted has an interesting top but the bottom/skirt- well, i'm sure it looks better on her than on that model in the picture!

This is a fun thread! Thanks for posting OP! Have fun no matter what- you have a lot going for you! And be sure to bring some baby pictures!!!

I vote for sequins- i think at the holidays, it's always a hit. You may be able to wear it again.

NP here...had huge BF boobs and am ample-busted normally, as well. Despite what others say, my advice is to forgo the long necklaces. They look funny when they're draped across the mountains and only draw attention to your chest because they're swinging all over the place as they fall over the edge of the cliffs. Keep your neck bare which will elongate the upper part of you.

Other tricks: V-necks are great to de-emphasize your bust. Stay away from anything that adds fabric up to your neck (boat-cut tops, T-necks). Wear black (or dark brown) on top and a lighter color on the bottom. So often women wear black skirts/pants with bright tops, but that just calls attention to your top half. Or, wear all one color to visually stretch you out (although you're tall, so you've got that working for you, too!). Wear black tights/hose with black heels to further draw attention to your legs.

I think the Gap dress you picked is nice but instead of adding a necklace, add sparkle with great bangle bracelets. The BCBG dress from PP is AWESOME, if you're cool with the arms.

Other Nordstrom options:

I have to admit, I'm a good bit older than you, so these may not be "young" enough for your style, but I thought I'd throw them out there for you to consider.

Good luck and have fun!

I vote for this one, from the PP

My youngest is 8, and I'm 5'6" and 160 pounds. I don't think I look that bad. You're probably younger than I am, so at your height and weight, you probably look much better than you think you do

OP here... Just got an email saying the attire is casual!! What the hell? Why am I paying $75 to see everyone in their jeans and sneakers, during the holiday season, no less? I'm still wearing a dress! Going to check out these links - thank you!

I'm sure you look great! I just need something I can fit into! Especially with these breasts...

Casual? Although you can bet the gals won't be in sneakers! I mean, it's still an evening event, right? How 'bout some dark rinse jeans, heels, and a sparkly top?

Use control undergarments for sure. Wear a knee length dress, scoop neck top or v-neck/wrap dress with a camisole underneath. Cute bag, kller shoes. Get your hair and nails done, put a big smile on your face. Don't wear anything boxy.

You don't want to be underdressed, even if it's casual and especially if you're not feeling great about your body.

Oh sweetie, nobody expects you to bounce back within 2 months of having a baby unless you're Heidi Klum. Buy some spanx, then wear them for your shopping trip, pick out something cute and arm yourself with pictures of your adorable kid.

Besides, if my friends are any indication, most of your friends will never be as skinny again as they were at their weddings, so I wouldn't compare yourself to them now. In a couple years, they'll be having kids too and buying their own Spanx. I never quite understood why people would diet themselves down to oblivion, so they could compare themselves unfavorably to those photos for the next 30 years.

So, OP, what did you end up with?
