Hair Cuttery NIGHTMARE!!!!

Wow, too bad you had such an awful experience there. I go to HC in Clifton, VA, but only for haircuts/style. I don't color my hair. I've been going to the same stylist for 15 years and she's awesome. Please don't rag on all HC's. I think you need a good and very experienced person to do that kind of coloring.

Go to a real Salon and have it fixed. I'd be done with them. O Salon in Georgetown has a great colorist named Aykut. It's about $200 for highlights, not sure for low lights, but so worth it.

This is what I'm thinking and I'm a penny pincher. Having experienced the difference between a real salon highlight/lowlight job and a Hair Cuttery type job, I know why a real salon is so much more expensive.

Another penny pincher who gets her hair cut at HC chiming in. I would not go there for color, unless you have a specific stylist who has been recommended, etc. For the fix, I agree - cut your losses. I'd shell out the $$ and go to a full salon. See if you can get some recs for color correction.

I second Aykut - he's been my cut and color guy for more than 10 years....love him!!

OP - I am shocked that you are shocked that you had a nightmare hair color experience at the Hair Cuttery!!!

I have known since the age of 12 that anything past a very basic haircut - and even then you are taking a chance - Hair Cuttery IS NOT the place you go.

OP, just leave it alone. 3 colors in 2 days is more than enough. You need it to heal and moisturize.

For your event do a slicked back ponytail or updo (french twist). But please do not think you can color it again and do anything but further the damage. I had a similar experience and you have to tough it out and let it heal for awhile.

Agree with the comments above.

I DO go to HC for haircuts b/c my hair is long and I just want the ends trimmed & long layers, which is pretty easy to do. I have also gotten it colored there, but my natural color is very dark brown hair (now with a lot of gray!), so I'm just going for a uniform dark brown to match my natural color & cover the gray roots. They do a fine job of that since once they have your color, they can mix the same color every time, and for me, if it comes out a bit darker or lighter, it's not a disaster. But for lowlights or highlights, I would be pretty wary.

I went to one in Springfield explaining i wanted a similar, but shorter bob cut to what I already had: it was longer in the front and shorter in the back. She gave me a mullet.....a fucking mullet. I cut it myself after getting home and went back the next day to get it repaired. The manager was a total bitch about it.

Never again!

OP -- What did you do? How was the event?
