Lol...that sounds like ...DC

not DC, not at all.

If DC doesn’t match this description for you, what does?

I’m the person who mentioned being ready to relocate, and D.C. is one of the cities I’m considering.

Sounds like many college towns.

I’m re-doing my house room by room. My youngest just graduated high school.

It feels great! All new furniture, rugs, tables, chairs, etc. I finally feel like a grown up. I have all boys and re-painting the walks after years of built up scuff marks,, etc.

We plan to do the kitchen next.

Both of us still working full time- but fortunately work from home. We have so much free time without sports all weekend and school activities. I’m so much more relaxed. Loving it!

I already live in one here, locally. We walk everywhere. So much to do.

Have another kid.

Why don’t you surprise your kid by selling your house & moving to a neighborhood adjacent to the kid’s college?

Feels empty already.

Quit inventing problems.
Get a life.
Quick.

Parents and child should feel good about a job well done.

Child, soon to be an adult if not one already, should be excited about the wider world of possibilities that is about to open up to them.

Thanksgiving travel arrangements made?

Rescue some cattle dogs from a rescue group, they will fill any kid void x 1000! Plus they are smarter than kids.

Yep. We own a smaller rowhouse in good DC neighborhood- but our main home is very close-in. 96 walk score. We love it. We are staying local. My parents also stayed here in retirement. Very active going to theater, museums, shows, great restaurants and fantastic health care (most important with age).
