There should be NO new assignments or grades this week which is the last week of school and not even a full week of school. Whoever is assigning assignments should not be.

MCPS already cut 5 days out of the school year due to weather. You want them to cut another 4 for "the last week of school"?

Based on the grading policy they created that clearly states we are supposed to have zero new assignments within 5 days of the end of the MP, yes.

Define “assignments”. Does that include tests or quizzes for previously assigned materials?

MCPS made numerous mistakes in canceling school this past winter. Teachers must cover the curriculum in the time remaining. If a family has a vacation or other plans during the last week of school, that’s on them. If a student is sick, then it’s up to the teacher and school policy.

My kid watched 5 movies yesterday, had 1 karaoke class, and played UNO in another.

Where in the policy does it say there can't be quizzes the last week of a marking period? Please quote it.

She needs to suck it up, wear a mask and go.

Is this real? My kid had a math test today and a couple of presentations.

Then it is clearly not 'real'. Teachers often face multiple grading policies that are difficult or impossible to meet jointly, especially at the end of school year (number of tests per quarter, when to complete grading, when to stop testing, ...). So they prioritize.

Only 3 days were cut. Six days were canceled, one was a bonus freebie, one was made up in April and Thursday is another makeup.

The rg does not say that that work can't be assigned in the last 5 days of the marking period; it says that late work cannot be accepted. It does not address the issue that OP's kid has, where she is sick and can't make it in. This is one that I would email each teacher about or just the grade-level AP.

The MCPS policy is really unclear. I’m a HS teacher and I’m not fully sure what the policy is. They’ve also made many changes since it was first rolled out so now everyone is doing whatever because no one fully knows what exactly we are supposed to do. Typical MCPS.

Its real. My kid had assignmnets up till today. Some of the teachers were out for extended time, others just didn't plan well.

There's no MCPS policy that says this even if you want it to be true. Stop making up stuff.

One of my kid's teachers offered the kids present the option to retake one of their tests from earlier in the marking period. My kid took the makeup and did a lot better, and it changed his grade. A retake isn't a new assignment.
